Hours after a UK-based newspaper reported that there was a threat on American soil, India stated on Wednesday that the US had shared information regarding the connection between organized criminals, gun runners, and terrorists, which New Delhi views as a serious issue.

The Ministry of External Affairs mentioned that the shared information was a cause for concern for both countries, and it was decided to take necessary follow-up actions.

Responding to media queries about discussions on security matters between New Delhi and Washington, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi emphasized that India takes such information seriously as it impacts national security interests.

Bagchi also mentioned that relevant departments are already examining the issues raised by the US inputs.

According to reports from multiple sources, the US had prevented a conspiracy to assassinate Pannun on its soil and raised concerns with the Indian government about its potential involvement in the plot.

This report comes after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed that Canadian security agencies were investigating possible links between Indian government agents and the killing of Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Vancouver.

The US, Canada, and their allies, including the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, shared details through the intelligence-sharing network “Five Eyes,” leading to concerns about a potential pattern of behavior from Delhi regarding the Nijjar killing and the Pannun assassination plot.
