Hours after a group of individuals chanting pro-Khalistan slogans removed the Indian flag at the High Commission in London, the Indian government summoned the most senior UK diplomat on Sunday to strongly protest.

The British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis, denounced the actions of the pro-Khalistan group, calling them disgraceful and unacceptable in a tweet.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the top UK diplomat in New Delhi was called in the evening to express India’s strong objection to the actions of separatist and extremist individuals at the Indian High Commission in London earlier that day.

The Ministry demanded an explanation for the lack of British security that allowed these individuals to enter the High Commission premises, reminding Deputy High Commissioner Christina Scott of the UK Government’s obligations under the Vienna Convention.

India criticized the UK Government’s indifference to the security of Indian diplomatic premises and personnel in the UK, urging the immediate identification, arrest, and prosecution of those involved in the incident and the implementation of stringent measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
