India has reported 3,720 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of active cases in the country to 40,177, according to updated data from the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.

The death toll from the virus has risen to 5,31,584, with 20 new fatalities reported, including five from Kerala, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The total number of Covid cases in India now stands at 4.49 crore (4,49,56,716), according to the latest data.

Active cases now make up 0.09% of the total infections, while the national recovery rate is at 98.73%, as reported by the ministry.

The number of recovered cases has reached 4,43,84,955, with a case fatality rate of 1.18%.

According to the ministry’s website, a total of 220.66 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country as part of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
