India has reported 12,591 new Covid cases in a single day, the highest in nearly eight months, with the active case count rising to 65,286, according to updated data from the Union Health Ministry on Thursday.

The death toll has reached 5,31,230, with 40 new fatalities, including 11 reported by Kerala, as of 8 am.

The total number of Covid cases stands at 4.48 crore, with a daily positivity rate of 5.46% and a weekly positivity rate of 5.32%.

Active cases now make up 0.15% of total infections, while the national recovery rate is at 98.67%, as per the health ministry website.

Over 4,42,61,476 people have recovered from the disease, and the case fatality rate is 1.18%.

According to the ministry’s website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country as part of the nationwide vaccination drive.
