The Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of Space have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create a Krishi-Decision Support System (Krishi-DSS) using satellite data. This system aims to improve evidence-based decision-making for stakeholders in the agriculture sector by integrating with MOSDAC, BHUVAN (Geo-platform), and ICAR systems, as stated by the Ministry of Agriculture. Krishi-DSS is being developed in line with Gati Shakti, utilizing RISAT-1A and VEDAS from the Department of Space.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and MoS Science and Technology Jitendra Singh. Tomar emphasized that the agreement will strengthen the agriculture sector. Jitendra Singh highlighted the usefulness of RISAT-1A data in developing decision support systems for agriculture, bioresources, environment, water resources, and disaster management during the event.
