Nine officials in the border district of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, including Assistant Commissioner Development Vijay Kumar and Block Development Officer Qila Darhal Madan Mohan, have had half a day to a day’s salary deducted by authorities. This is due to charges of unauthorized absence and submission of incorrect attendance reports.

The order for the salary deduction was issued by Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal on Saturday evening. Kumar submitted incorrect attendance for BDOs, showing absent individuals as present at headquarters. This demonstrates a non-serious and casual approach to reporting for duty, as stated in Kundal’s order.

Both officers have had one day’s salary deducted from their May pay and have been given two days to explain their casual approach before any disciplinary action is taken against them.

BDO Madan Mohan went on an “exposure tour” without seeking permission, which is a clear violation of government instructions.

In addition, seven BDOs reportedly left their station headquarters without permission to attend a training program from May 11 to 12 and failed to report for duty at their respective state headquarters on May 13. The salary deduction from these officers will be deposited in the Red Cross Society account.

The BDOs and their subordinates are also warned to stop marking their attendance from offices other than their respective ones. This includes the office of Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Planning, District Planning Officer, or Executive Engineer Rural Engineering Wing.
