An unidentified person allegedly raped a six-year-old tribal girl at an ashram school in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh. The hostel superintendent was suspended by the authorities for not reporting the crime to the police in a timely manner. The incident took place on the night of July 22 but was not reported to the police until July 24. Sukma SP Kiran Chavan stated that a special team has been assembled to apprehend the perpetrator. A case has been filed under relevant sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), and the investigation is ongoing.
